let's talk about my job. i think it's actually going pretty well. i did some real work on friday! i've yet to fully realize, i think, that this is my job and that i will have to be there every morning at 8:00 for the next ___ years. i can't just call up on thursday and say, "hey i wanted to go to the beach tomorrow. is it cool if i don't come in?" i also can't wear my cut-offs to work. in these ways, this job is inferior to williamsburg graphics. i do have a salary and a 401k now, so i think that's an upgrade. here's a picture of my desk:

the plant in the window belongs to my roommate, whose desk (to the left) was so messy that it became the focal point of the picture, so i cropped it out. anyway, i'm thinking about getting my own plant. i also got my fancy new phone today. here's a picture of it:

i can look at google maps on it and get my work e-mail. but it's big and clunky and unnecessary. oh well. i probably shouldn't complain about a free phone that offers up google maps. i was looking at a map of where our house (!!!!) is going to be in the above picture.
last night, i went out and explored some with dana and gabrielle. we went to bethesda so that they could see where i worked, and then we went to the area near our future home (!!!!). we went to trusty's friendly neighborhood bar and establishment. it was pretty awesome. they have board games there for you to play, so we played some speed scrabble and then got out this game called chairs. and it was ridiculous. below you can see how we feel about it:

this was the first real excursion i've had outside of my daily walks to the metro and some exploring in bethesda. it reassured me that i want to live here, that there are places i am going to want to go, and that it's going to be so fun! dana and i walked by the future home (!!!!) and it looked really cute at night with the lights on and everything. i took a picture, but i accidentally had my flash on, so the picture looks cruddy and we had to run off because the people who live there might have been creeped out.
things are getting great. i'm excited to see what's next!
