we moved into our house. i'm still largely unpacked, but the amount of stuff to be put away diminishes each night. our cable and internet don't get turned on for another week, so my evenings should be uneventful enough to force me to unpack. i've realized i'm only good at unpacking during the day, but my room doesn't have any windows, so it's like night all the time. but i'll press on!
as for the lack of internet, it's killing me. i like to tell myself i'm not that dependent on my internet and my computer, but that's all a big lie. i was really busy at work yesterday, so i didn't get a chance to waste time on the blogs and facebook (now banned at work!) and gchat and news. when i got home, i felt so detached and out of the loop. thankfully i have all this free time right now (kind of). this is a pitiful addiction. luckily, my work treo has been coming up pretty huge at times of extreme need.
my dad came over last night, and i made him the classic jessica-dad meal of macaroni and cheese and chicken nuggets. then he hung a shelf for me and fixed some other little things.
my mom is the queen of useful gifts, so my dad also delivered a cookbook yesterday. and upon moving in, she presented me with my very own tool kit from a company called tomboy tools. they make tools specifically for women, meaning they have smaller hand-grips and a lighter weight hammer and so on. i'm vaguely offended because i have big muscles and don't need a lighter weight hammer, but i think i appreciate that they say they are "dedicated to empowering women"? mom wisely got me the blue set instead of the pink one. it has been very helpful! thanks, mom!
i think we're going to trivia again tonight at the argonaut. it's going to be awesome. team paul rudd did very respectably last time.
