it takes a lot to make me crazy and a lot is always going on

on friday, dana, meg, gabrielle, and i were all standing on the corner of 14th and h, by the rock and roll hotel. we were discussing our transportation plans. a man ran by and grabbed my purse. the strap broke, the bag flew in the street, and dana, the assailant, and i all ran for it. he shoved me out of the way, scooped up the bag, and ran toward gabrielle and meg (so he could remain in the crosswalk?). g, with her quick thinking, stuck her foot out and tripped the man, who dropped the bag yet again. he didn't even try to pick it up this time. he just ran away with meg yelling after him, "there are too many women on this corner! you better run for your life, motherfucker!" we went home, i switched bags, and we went to a bar where the dj played "age of consent" and where i dance my cares away until the wee hours of the morning. dana and meg told everyone at the bar the tale, and a man said, "that's just life in the big city, i guess." and i guess it is.

i went to richmond on saturday to hang out with david. we watched some house, ate some pizza, and went to hooters with brandon, luke, and eddie. hooters is an utterly disturbing establishment. there was a bachelor party near us. one of the men had on what i just discovered is called the king of boobs crown. that makes me feel icky. but richmond was fun!

i met dad to watch casino royale in crystal city on monday. we got some pizza and ate it in the park before the movie started. last night, i saw built to spill at the 9:30 club. hearing those songs live made me think of all the parts of my life they've soundtracked. the first time someone dumped me, the time daniel drove my car into a minivan, the exchange i had when i was 16 with that 23 year old who wanted to date me, late night drives, parts of freshman year of college, and on and on. the gratuitous noodling at the end of the encore was kind of a mood-killer, but they've put in enough years to have earned the right to noodle.

i've had a lot of work this week, and i still have a lot to do. i don't want to do any of it, though. i'm tired, and i just want to read blogs and play globe game all day. sometimes having a job can be a real drag.
